On November 23, 2022, CANSSI Atlantic and Research Nova Scotia (RNS) will launch the Atlantic Climate Research Collaboration (ACRC), a program that will “foster and support research and training interactions that span Atlantic Canadian postsecondary institutions and disciplines to tackle complex problems related to climate change and its impacts on coastal communities.”

The co-sponsors state that they “are launching this opportunity with the ambitious goal of contributing measurably to the improvement of human life in coastal communities.”

They describe its emphasis as “the co-creation of knowledge, the leveraging of Canada’s expertise in the statistical sciences, and the synergy achieved by embedding partnership with domain researchers into projects at their inception. The strength of the program rests on creating an inclusive environment that draws in faculty, students, and application partners from across the Canadian Atlantic region to work in collaborative teams that address complex research problems involved with assessing and mitigating the impact of climate change on coastal communities.”

The official kick-off will take place at the Halifax Central Library, 5440 Spring Garden Road, on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, 10:00–10:45 a.m. AST, and all are welcome. If you wish to attend, please contact canssisc@sfu.ca before November 16 and indicate whether you plan to attend in person or online.

Further details about the program and how to apply will be announced at the launch.
