CANSSI Quebec’s second annual Postdoc Day attracted young statisticians from across the province to Concordia University in Montreal on September 10, 2024. The day was hosted by Concordia’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics and featured presentations by seven postdoctoral fellows in statistical sciences from five Quebec universities.
Following the presentations, participants had the opportunity to meet colleagues and peers at a special reception.
Mélina Mailhot, Interim Regional Director of CANSSI Quebec, was pleased with the outcome of the event, which was designed to help young researchers build connections within the statistical sciences community: “This has truly been an enriching networking event for our postdoc community.”
Mélina shared a number of positive comments from those who attended.
One presenter said, “I just wanted to thank you for the Postdoc Day. It was an interesting event to meet other young researchers in Montreal, as well as their work. Thanks for the opportunity to present, and for the nice organization.”
Another participant expressed gratitude, saying “thank you so much for such a fabulous event yesterday … It was amazing to connect with everyone and hear about all the interesting research going on in the Quebec postdoc community. I really appreciate all the work you put in to coordinate such a great event.”
