Faculty Lecturer (Teaching) | McGill University

The McGill University Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Faculty Lecturer (Teaching). This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate aptitude, enthusiasm, and excellence in teaching; they will be expected to participate in both in-person and online teaching.

The incumbent will be expected to develop content for, and teach, up to four 3-credit biostatistics and data science courses per year. The successful candidate will assist in the oversight and management of the department’s online programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in committees and other service roles while involved in discussing best teaching practices within the School of Population and Global Health, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the University. Other tasks may include the following:

  • Transforming existing teaching material for use in online formats;
  • Supervising students in biostatistics and epidemiologic research projects;
  • Assisting with the coordination and teaching of external/professional development workshops.

Biostatistician I | Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital

The Leadership Sinai Centre for Diabetes at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital, a University of Toronto–affiliated research centre, invites applications for the position of Biostatistician. This position is full-time for 1 year, with possibility of continuation thereafter. Candidates ideally have an MSc, MMath or PhD degree in Biostatistics or Statistics with demonstrated practical experience in a health research setting. The biostatistician will work in a dynamic and stimulating environment on a variety of clinical research projects with an established research team that includes physicians and epidemiologists. Ongoing projects include large prospective observational cohort studies and clinical trials relating to diabetes. The biostatistician will participate in data analysis and preparation of results for publication and conference presentations. Solid R/SAS programming, oral and written communication, and time management skills are essential. Salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Tenure-track Positions in Artificial Intelligence Applied to Science, Healthcare, or Society | University of Alberta

The University of Alberta is pursuing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cohort Hire initiative to hire 21 faculty members doing AI and Machine Learning (ML) research across a range of disciplines and departments. AI/ML has the potential to transform almost all fields of study within the University and almost all aspects of society outside the University. As part of this AI Cohort Hire we are looking for scholars who are actively pursuing this transformational capacity of AI/ML within their own disciplines. In particular, researchers pursuing AI/ML advances within science, healthcare, robotics and automation, and the impact of these advances on society are priority areas for this AI Cohort Hire. AI/ML impacting other disciplines will also be considered.

The successful candidates must hold a PhD (or equivalent) degree by the appointment date. They are expected to have demonstrated research potential strong enough for a promising nomination as a Canada CIFAR AI Chair, typically evidenced by publications in top venues (conferences or journals) within their field. Their research accomplishments should clearly include fundamental advances in AI/ML or fundamental advances in how AI/ML is applied within their discipline. They should also have strong communication skills and demonstrated commitment to highly effective graduate and undergraduate teaching. They will be expected to establish their own funded research programs, supervise graduate students, and teach graduate and undergraduate courses as expected by their home department.

Assistant Professor (Grant-Tenure Track) or Associate Professor (Grant-Tenure) | University of British Columbia

The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Emergency Care BC (ECBC) at the Provincial Health Services Authority invite applications for a full-time UBC faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (grant-tenure track) or Associate Professor (grant-tenure). The successful candidate is expected to hold the role of Scientific Director with ECBC, for a five (5) year term with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory review and funding.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Health Research, Epidemiology or Statistics, or MD with at minimum Master’s-level training in Epidemiology, Implementation Science Statistics or equivalent.

The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2025, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.
