Overview

Overview

The CANSSI Visitor Program (CVP) supports short-term visits (2 to 5 days) by leading Canadian and international statistical scientists to CANSSI member universities. The aim is to strengthen connections between local and national/international statistical sciences communities and to foster collaborations and new opportunities, especially for students.

Each visit should include events and activities that allow local students and faculty members to engage with the visitor. Example activities are scientific or public lectures and lunch or dinner gatherings. The intention is to foster research collaborations and student mentoring.

A central element of each visit is the CANSSI SSC Seminar on Innovations in Statistics and Data Science (CANSSI/SSC SISDS), a presentation jointly sponsored by CANSSI and the Statistical Society of Canada. CANSSI records each seminar and makes it available online.

An important aim of the program is to distribute the available support equitably in terms of geography and institution size. We particularly encourage universities and departments with smaller or less established statistical sciences communities to apply for support.
