About CANSSI Ontario
CANSSI Ontario is the Ontario Regional Centre of the Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute (CANSSI).
Our goal is to strengthen and enhance research and training in data science by developing programs that promote interdisciplinary research and enable multidisciplinary collaborations.
CANSSI Ontario at UofT is an Extra Departmental Unit (EDU:C) in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto. It was established on July 1, 2019 to house the Ontario Regional Centre of CANSSI. All funding opportunities are generously supported by the University of Toronto Faculty of Arts & Science as part of their commitment to CANSSI Ontario.

CANSSI Ontario Postdoctoral Fellowship in Genome Data Science
This Postdoctoral Fellowship provides salary support for up to two years for early career investigators pursuing research in the areas of genomics and data science with an emphasis on new genomic technologies or multi-omic integration.
CANSSI Ontario Postdoctoral Fellowship in Statistics
This fellowship will provide salary support for up to two years for postdoctoral fellows undertaking full-time research at a CANSSI Ontario partner university or at their affiliated research institutes.
The fellowship supports research projects that deepen understanding of statistical sciences, including theoretical statistics.
CANSSI Ontario STAGE Training Program
CANSSI Ontario STAGE (Strategic Training for Advanced Genetic Epidemiology) is a formal and comprehensive training program in Genetic Epidemiology and Statistical Genetics.
The program offers training and career development opportunities designed to cross-train individuals at the interface of genetics and population health sciences in genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics—two disciplines currently facing a massive shortage of qualified individuals.
Banting-CANSSI Discovery Award in Biostatistics
The Banting Discovery Foundation, CANSSI, and CANSSI Ontario are pleased to offer the Banting-CANSSI Discovery Awards in Biostatistics for new investigators within the first three years of their academic appointment at a Canadian university or affiliated research institute. These one-year grants of up to $30,000 aim to support early-career biostatisticians collaborating with scientists in biomedicine, occupational health, or environmental health. Four awards are available, with two reserved for biostatisticians based in Ontario.
Data Access Grants
These grants of up to $5,000 cover costs associated with accessing and working with large data sources, which are necessary to carry out data-intensive research and application.
