Coming in Fall 2023!
As part of CANSSI’s equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives, we will be showing First Generation, an award-winning documentary film that follows four students from disadvantaged backgrounds as they strive to become the first members of their families to attend university.
The virtual screening will be followed by a live, online panel discussion about the issues raised in the film within the context of the academic statistical sciences in Canada. The panellists will bring their personal EDI experiences to the discussion.
We invite you to participate in this thought-provoking online event. Stay tuned for date and registration details.
“An award-winning documentary narrated by Golden Globe nominee Blair Underwood, First Generation tells the story of four high school students—an inner city athlete, a small town waitress, a Samoan warrior dancer, and the daughter of migrant field workers—who set out to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope to their families and communities by pursuing a college education.” – From gocollegenow.org
